“Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.” – Leo Tolstoy
Every now and then, we hear cries of people asking, demanding or claiming to be on the verge of change. Its is important to note that change is not and Houdini trick that appears instantly and the steps are rather much more delicate. Meaning that they ought to be taken with a cautious approach.
The theory of change is simple. In order to make changes in any aspect of reason or life, you must 1st be prepared to change yourself. It’s the golden rule. Take change as a car. In order for the car to move, you must put the key in the ignition and start the car before it can move.
Demanding for change when you are not prepared to change yourself 1st is almost like going to a restaurant and demanding for food when you have no money. You might get served alright, but the end results are that, you’re either going to get lynched for not paying or worse, reprimanded severely.
It is with interest to know that your destination is one that can not be changed. However the direction on which you are on to your destination can be changed. We ought to accept the dynamics of change. By this, we must be willing to take that 1st initiative to change.
Think of it as an adaptation strategy. We must learn to accept situations as they stand, and manoeuvre our way out of that maize by changing our direction. People ask “how can I change the world?” The answer is simple, by changing your outlook and perception of life. Once, that is found, the path becomes easier to walk on.
Change is also an inevitable act. Whether you like it or not, there will be times you’ll need to make that brave step and change an aspect or aspects of your life. Be it, decision making, or self-imposed. Note here that money can not fully change your life. It might take majority of it, but the least bit left may affect your life in the long run.
Awareness of your surroundings and the people that are in it can also make the change process easier. For example, knowing that you need to cut certain people out of your life in order to make better productive strides. Or perhaps accepting the fact that you need a new circle of friends to inspire and motivate you to success.
At the end of the day, the fact remains. Materialistic items, regardless of value can not have an impact on the change the heart and soul desires. You can’t deploy change without employing a self realisation to change yourself 1st.
Don’t sit around and moan and groan over situations that you detest. You have the power to make a difference. Like Maya Angelou said “if you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude. Don’t complain”
“What we think determines what happens to us, so if we want to change our lives, we need to stretch our minds.” – Wayne Dyer
